FIRST BLOG POST! NORTHSHORE MEGAMAX REVIEW!
Hello friends! Tokai here with Taping the Gap. Today we’ll be reviewing one of my favorite adult diapers on the market: the Northshore Megamax!
Northshore was founded in 2002 by Adam Greenberg. He was inspired to take action after witnessing his father, and grandmother struggle with incontinence due to life threatening conditions, and a severe lack of quality products to help them maintain their dignity. Starting out by supplying products that were orders of magnitude better than what was available to the general public, since then they have gone on to launch a number of high quality adult diapers in order to revolutionize the adult diaper market. From pull-up style, to tabbed diapers, underwear guards and everything in between the team at Northshore Care have a product that can meet your daily incontinence needs.
The Megamax is what I would consider to be Northshore’s flagship diaper. Sporting a 6500ml absorbency this diaper can handle both urinary and bowel incontinence for all day, or all night protection. This makes it an optimal choice for those who frequently have heavy voids.
Packaging:
The Northshore Megamax comes in a matte bag that has a wonderful modern, and neutral design. The logo is affixed front and center, and you can tell they really wanted their product to stand out compared to the competition since the packaging design really makes it clear you’re buying a premium product. For this review I have four bags in multiple colors, and I love the subtle geometric patterns on the bags to signify which color is inside. Currently I have white, pink, black, and tie-dye, and there is also a navy blue color available as well.
I think another standout feature of the packaging is how much literature there is! The one thing I appreciate about Northshore is their commitment to ensuring that their customers know exactly what they’re getting. Of course there’s the standard sizing and measurements table, but Northshore also wanted to include their mission statement, and information about their company, even a small instructional graphic on how to use them- all while being wholly unapologetic about who they are, and what they’re about!
The Diaper:
The Northshore Megamax is constructed from a sturdy, yet soft plastic. It’s smooth to the touch, and does crinkle, but not to the degree that some other premium diapers might. If noise is a concern, I would definitely recommend a cloth diaper cover, or a onesie/bodysuit! The absorbent pad has a quilted texture, and an inner blue rectangle to signify its super absorbent core. The Megamax also has front and rear elastic waistbands allowing for a comfortable fit that can move with you throughout the day!
The Large is rated for a waist size of 42-54”. The other sizes are XS (18-30”), S (24-32”), M (33-44”), XL (50-60”) and XXL (60-76”) which ensures that people of all shapes and sizes can find a product that’s right for them! The front wings are lightly adorned with the company name, but not so much that it’s really noticeable at a glance. Each rear wing has two extra wide, and very adhesive tapes making sure that once you’re taped up your diaper isn’t going anywhere.
The front of the diaper has a large, rectangular landing zone that consists of a high gloss plastic. The landing zone may be one of my favorite features on the Megamax since many other what I would consider to be high performance brands tend to skip out on this feature. I find that it really helps to have a landing zone during application in order to know where the best places to tape up are. Sometimes on diapers without a landing I find that my tapes are uneven, typically mismatched in height, which can lead to premature leaks!
Absorbency aside, I think the most outstanding feature on the Megamax are its tall leak guards lining each leg hole. The height, and elasticity of the leak guards ensure that you can expect to keep your clothes, or sheets dry even during a heavy void.
Discreetness:
The Megamax is a high capacity diaper, meaning that it’s going to be quite a bit thicker, even when dry compared to store brand, and even some high performance medical diapers. As you can see from the provided photos the waist of this diaper peaks a significant amount over the waist of my pants.
If you’re feeling self conscious or nervous about your diaper showing, I would recommend a plain, solid color onesie. While dry these diapers only show slightly under my slacks.
To anyone who isn’t already familiar with wearing diapers I highly doubt that these would cause alarm in others.
The caveat is that when these diapers are wet, they swell up to a considerable degree. If wearing for all day usage then these will definitely show beneath your clothes. Furthermore if you are truly saturated you will definitely walk with what I like to call “an affected gait”. I would say if you’re looking for a diaper that is a bit more discreet when wet I would recommend the Megamax Lite, or Megamax Airlock Lite, which offer the same quality construction, with a reduced absorbency, or the GoSupreme Pull-up, which offers discreet, light to moderate protection with an easy to put on form factor.
Performance:
My diaper usage is for bedwetting, and I’m a believer in real world test results so I taped on a Megamax at around 7:30pm when I normally start winding down for bed. The first thing I noticed using the Megamax is the cut of the diaper. Now, your mileage may vary due to differences in everyone's body type, but out of all the premium diapers I’ve come to love, the Megamax has a fit that feels really nice on my plus sized frame. I’m definitely an in-between size person when it comes to diapers. Sometimes the tapes can feel a bit too tight while leaving a concerning gap in the rear against my thighs and bottom. The Large Megamax gives me a perfect seal from the front tapes, and contours nicely against my backside giving an extra secure feeling.
I’m a back sleeper, that definitely does some rolling around during the night. Sometimes during particularly active nights I find that I’ll have leaked a bit due to urine not being able to evenly distribute across the padding. I can safely say that after three nights of wearing Megamax to bed, my sheets have been bone dry, and the diaper has done an excellent job of not only absorbing quickly, but wicking moisture away so that my skin still feels relatively dry, even after a night of heavy wetting.
In order to do a thorough review I also wore a Megamax during my workday. I work from home, but often am up and about throughout the day to stay limber, or take care of chores. This diaper held up to all of the standing, stooping, crouching, and walking around without clumping or coming loose. Throughout the day I wet my diaper 6 times. Four smaller voids, with two floods over the course of 10 hours, and I was delighted to see that even when sitting down on a fully soaked diaper my chair remained dry. I don’t typically wear diapers out when running errands, or spending time with friends, but to anyone who would wear a Megamax out and about, feel confident that your padding will keep up with you!
Overall:
Over the years I’ve tried dozens of products on my quest to find a diaper that I could consider my daily driver. I needed something that was not only functional, but cost effective as well, which to anyone who struggles with incontinence knows it can be hard to source high quality products, even when covered by insurance. When Northshore started selling their own in-house brand of diapers they weren’t just revolutionizing a market. I firmly believe that they sparked a whole new culture when it comes to adult diapers in society. Not only have they provided the community with products that we can count on, but they are starting a movement where nobody should feel ashamed if they need to wear diapers. The stigma is one of the hardest things to overcome when you’re starting your incontinence journey, and Northshore’s message is loud and clear: Be padded, be confident, be you!
The Megamax provides me with a peace of mind that I seldom find with other, even more expensive diapers. A no-frills design with top notch engineering, coupled with the high quality of materials, and high absorbency core make sure that I can comfortably sleep through the night, and cut down on leaks significantly saving me time that would otherwise be spent washing the sheets. For these, and so many more reasons I give the Northshore Megamax my stamp of approval, and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality diaper, produced by a company that truly cares for its customers.
This has been the first of many diaper reviews, so thank you for stopping by, and I hope to see you again! Tokai signing off!

Thanks for the review. I'll have to try them. Try the plastic backed Northshore Supreme. I personally only wear Betterdry's as of now.
